Five UK Yachtsmen Detained In The Gulf By Iran





Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran will take serious action against the 5 yachtsmen that is detained in the Gulf if they found out that they had evil motivation.

Iran had a bad relationship with Britain due to several accusations including Tehran’s nuclear program, Iranian allegations of British involvement in post-election violence and other issues.

Iran’s president chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaie, told the semi officials Fars that the judiciary will make a decision whether the five yachtmen had eveil intentions.

Britain said that the five yachtsmen that were detained were civilians. The case was very similar to the incident in March 2007 when 8 British Royal navy sailors and 7 marines were detained by Iran off its coast.

The British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband had called the Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Tuesday several times for formal consular access. He also repeated his call to speed up the release of the five men.
