Earthquake Hits California

There was a serious earthquake that hit the California coast in Northern California at 4:27 p.m. Saturday. The earthquake hit a region that is located 43.5 km off the coast and about 16 km west from Eureka. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 6.5 on the Richter scale. Although it was a large earthquake, not many people were killed or injured. The earthquake that shook at Costa Rica had killed three people. According to the National Emergency Commission, two sisters that are 7 years old and 11 years old were killed by a landslide. Another woman had a heart attack and died when the earthquake took place.

After the main earthquake, there are four other earthquakes that occurred in the area within 1 hours. All the four earthquake are measured at 3.5 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake was felt as far as Santa Cruz, California. One resident in Grass Valley, California said the ground continued to shook for 25 seconds after the main earthquake.
