Severe Damages After Tropical Cyclone Rip Through Fiji





The cyclone that hits Fiji on Monday caused two Fiji villagers to die. Many people have also disappeared. The cyclones destroyed the houses, trees and power supplies leaving thousands homeless.

Cyclone Mick is the first cyclone to rip through Fiji this summer. The cyclone should proceed to Tonga. The residents of Tonga are already alerted on the cyclone.

According to Fiji Meteorological Service, the wind guest was traveling at 95 miles (10 km) per hour near Category 2 cyclone’s epicenter and the winds were traveling at 60 – 70 miles (110 km) per hour. Cyclone rating in Category 1 is considered not serious, while cyclone rating in Category 5 is consider a serious cyclone.

Tim Sutton of the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) said that the Cyclone Mick was a damaging wind gust that catches people who were not alert into the whirlwind. The cyclone hit Fiji 6 hours than expected.

Tim Sutton also told the New Zealand’s National Radio that many trees collapsed, the power supply was disrupted and the roads around Viti Levu were shut down due to flood and landslides.
