Two Swiss Businessmen were sentenced to 16 months prison sentence and a fine of 2000 dinars because they exceeded their visa limit. They were detained when Kadhafi’s son Hannibal and his wife were held in Libta because two servants had revealed that they mistreat them in a Geneva hotel. This has initiated a international negotiations between Bern and Tripoli.
The two servants later reveal that it was not true. However, the businessmen were not freed. The two business men were Max Goldi, and fellow Swiss Rashid Hamdani. Max Goldi, works as a senior manager at the Swedish-Swiss engineering giant ABB. Swiss Rashid Hamdani works for a small construction firm.
Tripoli did not grant permission for the two businessmen initially. However, they were released on bail and was given permission to stay at the Swiss embassy. The sentence will take effect beginning on Tuesday.
According to a Libyan official, Goldi and Hamdani will also appear in court later this month for carrying out unauthorized business activity.
